These terms explain the rules for using EVEN's public website and services. Please read them before using the site. If you do not agree with them, do not use the site or submit information through it.
1. Agreement and who we are
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and EVEN. References to "EVEN", "we", "us" or "our" mean the organisation operating this website from London, United Kingdom.
You can contact us at info@iEven.org. By accessing or using this website, you confirm that you accept these terms and will comply with them.
2. Using the website
You may use the website for lawful personal, educational, charitable or organisational purposes. You are responsible for ensuring that anyone who accesses the site through your connection understands and follows these terms.
The website is currently provided without charge. We may introduce, change or withdraw features, but we will not charge you without clearly explaining the applicable terms first.
3. The Even Code service
The Even Code service lets users select identity references and optional physical-trait references to generate a compact code, or enter an existing code to review the references it represents.
- An Even Code is an informational representation. It is not an identity document, legal classification, medical record or official determination of ethnicity.
- You are responsible for checking selections and generated results before relying on or sharing them.
- Only submit your own information or information you are authorised to use.
- Organisations adopting the framework remain responsible for their own legal, equality, safeguarding and data-protection obligations.
Important: Do not use the Even Code as the sole basis for decisions that significantly affect a person, including decisions about employment, education, healthcare, housing, credit, insurance or access to public services.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use the website or services to:
- break any law, regulation or third-party right;
- harass, discriminate against, misrepresent or cause harm to another person;
- submit malicious code, probe security, interfere with availability or bypass access controls;
- collect information about other users without authority;
- automate requests in a way that places an unreasonable burden on the service; or
- present EVEN's content, endorsement or accreditation in a misleading way.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, our rights or the rights of others.
5. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website, Even Charter, Even Code framework, branding, text, graphics, software and other materials are owned by or licensed to EVEN and are protected by intellectual-property laws.
You may view and print reasonable extracts for personal reference and may link to public pages. You must not reproduce, modify, sell, sublicense or commercially exploit our materials without prior written permission, except where the law expressly allows it.
Any permitted reference to EVEN must be accurate and must not imply endorsement, partnership or accreditation where none exists.
6. Third-party services and links
The site may link to or display services operated by third parties, including embedded forms, maps, QR-code generation and social-media platforms. Those services are controlled by their respective providers and may have separate terms and privacy notices.
Links are provided for convenience and context. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, security or content.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site accurate and available, but uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed. We may suspend, withdraw or change any part of the site for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons.
Content may become outdated. While we take reasonable care, you should verify information that is important to a decision and contact us if you identify an error.
8. No professional advice
Website content is general information and does not constitute legal, medical, regulatory, employment, equality or other professional advice. Obtain appropriate professional advice for your circumstances before acting on information from the site.
9. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and services are provided on an "as available" basis without implied warranties. EVEN is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on information that should reasonably have been independently checked, third-party services, or events outside our reasonable control.
Where you use the site for business or organisational purposes, EVEN will not be liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill, data or any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the website, contact us, subscribe to updates, use the Even Code service or interact with embedded services.
11. Children and supervised use
The public site is not designed to collect information directly from young children. Anyone under 16 should use submission-based services with the involvement of a parent, guardian, school or other responsible adult where appropriate.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the website, our services or applicable law. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from that point.
13. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
Questions about these terms can be sent to info@iEven.org.
